Gary Fumeaux asked:

The thing that will really help your website stand out among the crowd is the online marketing strategies that you use. You will really need to have put some serious time and effort into nutting out an online marketing strategy if you want to reach the top and stay there.

More importantly, your online marketing strategies are a key element in getting more visitors to your site and keeping them there. People are inundated with choice when it comes to sites they can visit and products they can buy. How can you make sure that they will choose your products over any of the thousands of others that are out there.

In order for you to generate a feasible and effective online marketing strategy you need to make sure you are targeting the right people, and you need to know where you are positioned in the whole market.

There are some really important points you need to work over before you can maximize your online strategies

Create Goals

It goes without saying that if you do not have goals, you do not have a direction to walk towards. If you set up some clear and concise goals, the path towards them becomes substantially clearer, you will know what you need to do, and you will have real data that can show you how close you are to achieving your goals.

The greatest goal when it comes to online marketing strategies is figuring out how to target your customer base. You need to know which customers you are going to be selling to. When you have figured this out, it is almost trivial to figure out what product you are going to offer to them. You can advertise to them by sending out promotions or google ads that will really get them in the know about your product or service.

Lastly, you can really design your website around hitting your target market. Designing the website for the market is key because it allows you to minimize anything that might confuse them or cause you to lose sales. By streamlining the process you will start to see how easy it is to maximize returns.

Get yourself out there

Again, there are thousands upon thousands of internet businesses out there all competing for similar groups of customers. How on earth can anyone tell you apart from the others that are available? In their eyes, if they have seen one, they have seen them all.

This is why you really need to distinguish yourself. It does not matter if you are offering the exact same things, the important thing is to really distinguish your website so that it seems completely different from the rest.

Really hammer the value-add aspects of what you do. Offer additional services or information to your visitors that your competition just will not have. Check out your competitors and see what they are doing, see if you can steal their ideas and improve them. Do not let your competitors get a single advantage over you.

Convenience is key

The easier it is for people to buy from you the more likely they are to buy. If you make your website simple and easy to navigate then the less stress it is on them to find their way around. Make sure your site is simple to use and has the tools you need to sell product as fast as possible. People like having things done fast.

When you think you have compiled these concepts into a solid plan, start the ball in motion, if it is not set up and planned to complete perfection then you will have wasted your effort and you will not reap the rewards. You need to be a perfectionist about your online marketing strategies, because without the dedication and effort, it will all be a total write off.

These are all great starting points, so take these and create your own fantastic online marketing strategies. The only thing limiting how well they work is how much you are willing to invest in them.

Dave Roth asked:

One of the most important things that a company can do is correctly manage its customer base ? and this includes potential customers, as well. These potential customers are the ones who talked to the company at trade fairs, and the ones who asked for information but then never bought anything. A lot of companies just write them off because they have not yet spent any money, but smart companies know that they just have not spent any money yet. They may be back, so it is a good idea to follow up with them ? without nagging them ? to make sure they remember that the company is there for them should they ever need anything. One of the best ways to do that is through CRM, or customer relationship management, software. This software is designed to store all kinds of customer information, including names, addresses, important dates, and any kind of notes that the company might feel is important. It is often used when people call in to an 800 line for service or sales, to record what is talked about, so that a salesperson can follow up later.

Not everyone likes CRM software, because some customers feel like it is very intrusive. They do not want their information stored, and they feel like their privacy is being violated. Used correctly, though, CRM is a very good choice, because companies can get the information that they want but yet not contact the customer or potential customer so many times that it becomes a problem or a nuisance. Getting the right balance between letting a customer know that the business is there and not inundating them with sales calls and information is also something that CRM can be very good for. The software can be set up to send out reminders at specific intervals, or to alert the salesperson on a particular day that there should be a contact made with a certain customer. By doing this, customers can be managed just like other aspects of the business. Being organized is very vital, and this is especially true today because the society is becoming a lot more global. People who only did business in their local town a few short years ago now can sell their goods and services to people all over the country and the world.

Not everyone thinks of this, but it is an important and valid consideration. The businesses that use CRM software find that they are better equipped to handle these global kinds of issues as well, making them better suited to handle large sales, build stronger client bases, and do more in the business world. Because CRM can help them meet deadlines and address other issues, it can move a smaller business into a more global and respected category is a short period of time, helping both the business and its customers to enjoy the benefits that come with things like that. Most customers think that CRM provides them a lot of benefits without too many problems, and most businesses would agree. The advantages that are offered to both salespeople and their customers are much greater than any problems that the software could cause, with the possible exception of software that stores sensitive information, and most of this is carefully guarded.

Mark Warner asked:

The first thing they teach you in business school is to pay attention to the wants and demands of your customer base, otherwise, you may not have a customer base at all. Short of simply asking each and every customer who comes into your business what they think at the check out counter, it can be difficult to gather, analyze and implement customer information. Let’s take a look at how you can build a customer mailing list with ease.

The first challenge for any business owner is simply getting a customer to take time out of their day and give you their personal information. Luckily, most people love being asked what they think. If you run a business that has customers or clients that are passionate about the service or product you provide, gathering feedback and mailing list data won’t be difficult. The only real challenge you will face is how to collect it. Some websites use post-transaction surveys that customers can either take or skip, while most brick and mortar businesses choose the old pen and paper route.

If you have encountered difficulty in gathering consumer feedback and mailing list information, you may have to get creative. You could try running a small contest where people can sign up, giving their mailing address, phone number and email and winning a prize. Even people who are slightly paranoid about giving out personal information to businesses will happily do so if they can win something. If you have the capital, make the prize even bigger. Offer a small vacation or free hotel reservations at a fine hotel or maybe a large gift certificate at a local restaurant. You will soon find that you will be buried in mountains of raw customer data. One final tip, if you do offer a prize of some sort, make sure you publicize the winner. Not only is it a good public relations move, most people feel that these types of contests are fixed or fake in some way and that, “no one ever really wins.” It will help your credibility if you attempt one of these contests again in the future.

If you don’t want to offer a prize but you still want to gather as much information as you can about your customer base, try asking for input on what you do, the products you offer and how you can improve your company. Your dedicated consumers will be more than happy to fill you in on what you could do to improve things, but you won’t garner nearly the number of entries you would if you offered a prize.

Once you have that information, you will need to organize it, enter it into a database of some sort and then use it to your advantage for things like new product unveilings, sales and more. Remember, all of the raw data in the world is useless if you don’t use it correctly or at all. The processing part of the job is just as important as the gathering.
